Rentalbuddy AB uses cookies and similar technologies, such as storage in your browser (together "cookies"), on rentalbuddy.io. This policy explains which ones, why, and the choices you have. How we handle personal data in general is in our privacy policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your computer or phone. Some are needed for the site to work; others remember your choices, measure how the site is used or help us with marketing. Some are set by us (first-party cookies), others by the partners whose services we use (third-party cookies).

How we ask for your consent

The first time you visit, a banner asks which cookies you allow. Until you answer, only necessary cookies are used: nothing for preferences, statistics or marketing is loaded or stored.

  • Necessary cookies make the site work and are always on. The law allows them without consent.
  • Preferences, statistics and marketing are used only if you tick them, or choose "Accept all". Every box starts unticked.
  • "Reject all" is right next to "Accept all" and works the same way. Rejecting has no effect on what you can do on the site.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. When you withdraw a category, we delete the cookies we set for it and reload the page without the services in it. Cookies that partners set on their own domains can only be deleted in your browser's settings.

We ask again after 12 months, and earlier if we start using a service your answer didn't cover.

How we keep proof of your choice

The law requires us to be able to show that you consented. Each time you answer the banner, we therefore save a record of the answer:

  • a random consent ID, which is also kept in your cookie and shown under Cookie settings
  • the date and time, and your choice for each category
  • which version of the banner you saw, its language, and the page you were on (without anything after "?" in the address)
  • your IP address with the last part removed (81.170.1.0, not 81.170.1.234), and your browser's description (its "user agent")

Nothing else that identifies you is saved. The record is deleted automatically after 12 months. It is stored by us in Google Cloud (Firebase) within the EU, in Belgium and the Netherlands, and used only to show what you agreed to, and when. If you contact us about your consent, quote your consent ID.

Things that load only when you click

Google Maps on the contact page and videos from YouTube and Vimeo in our blog posts load only when you click them. Until then they set no cookies and get no information about you. Clicking loads the service, which may then set its own cookies.
